Man Cuts out Own Eye, Headless Woman and Dead Dogs Found in House

Sgt.Trent Crump, a police spokesman, gave this account of the horrific incident:

A male neighbor knocked on the door of the apartment to check on the 43-year-old suspect, whom he hadn’t seen since the day before. When the man, whose name was not immediately released, answered the door, his left arm was severed at the elbow and his left eyeball was missing.

The neighbor could see that the apartment’s floors and walls were covered in blood and immediately contacted authorities. Officers saw several knives in the residence, and it remains unknown which were used during the slaying and self-mutilation.

When officers arrived, they detained the suspect and entered the apartment. There, they found the woman’s decapitated body inside a walk-in closet. Two dead dogs were also discovered inside the residence.

…The suspect spoke with police officers outside the apartment and indicated that he “killed three family members,” Crump said. It was unknown if the suspect was referring to the woman and the dogs or other relatives, but police are checking on other family members.

Man Hits Son, Stabs Wife to Death When She Objects

The incident started when [John Leo] Davis got angry at one of the kids for playing video games and hit them in the face, court records show. The child told Michele [Davis], who reportedly confronted her husband and an argument ensued.

The children saw Davis wield a knife and chase his 35-year-old wife from the kitchen to the front door where police later found her in a pool of blood, records show.

Kutis said police responded to a call regarding a family fight at approximately 6:15 p.m. at the home near Lower Buckeye Road and Cotton Lane.

Michele was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, Kutis said.

In 2008, police arrested Davis in Utah on suspicion of assault against Michele and child abuse, court records show. He was also reportedly arrested in 2006 and twice in the 1990s on suspicion of battery against a spouse.

The kids were immediately removed form the home at 168th Drive and Watkins Street and were being cared for Friday morning by relatives, said Lisa Kutis, a Goodyear police spokeswoman.

Three of the seven children – ages 3, 5 and 9 – belong to the couple, according to Kutis. Two children – ages 11 and 15 – belong to Michele only. Two others – ages 12 and 14 – belong to Davis.

A 16-year-old child, who was not at home when the incident occurred, also belongs to Davis, Kutis said.

18-Year Old with 5 Year History of Sexual Assaults Charged in AZ

Charges against Tyler Kost of San Tan Valley include multiple counts of sexual assault with a minor, sexual abuse with a minor and sexual conduct with a minor. He also faces one count of child molestation.

Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles said the victims in the crimes alleged in the indictment issued Wednesday ranged from 12 to 17 years old.

Voyles said the offenses occurred between October 2009 and April 2014.

Kost was born in January 1996 so he was 13 when the first offense allegedly occurred. But Voyles plans to try him as an adult on all charges.

“In Arizona, once an individual turns 18, we don’t have a choice,” Voyles said. “(State law) makes it fairly clear.”

Wait—would you not want to charge him as an adult for these very not-child-like crimes? Serial crimes? And harassment?

…Kost would face between 147 and nearly 334 years in prison if convicted of all the charges in the indictment, the prosecutor said.

Pinal County sheriff’s deputies arrested Kost last week, accusing him of being a serial sex predator who assaulted at least 18 students. Voyles said he could not comment on why the indictment accused Kost of crimes involving only 11 victims.

According to the indictment, none of the alleged sexual assaults occurred on a school campus. Kost is accused of sexually abusing the victims in his bedroom, in a parked car, a park and out in the desert.

…In addition to calling Kost a sexual predator, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu last week said Kost threatened and harassed victims to such an extent that two fled the state, and one attempted suicide.

“This is a serious and serial sex offender and rapist,” Babeu said.

The investigation was initiated after the Sheriff’s Office received a call March 25 from someone reporting that Kost had sexually abused and molested five teenage girls.

Kost lives in San Tan Valley, a bedroom community of about 87,000 named for its location in the foothills of the San Tan Mountains. The area, about 45 miles southeast of Phoenix, is known for its golf courses and hiking trails.

Police have identified the father as Alejandro Gallardo, 45, but are withholding the names of the girls. Police said Gallardo died of a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. Neighbors said there was a long history of domestic violence between a man and a woman who had lived together at the house.

Neighbors also reported hearing the terrified screams of a girl, who was also crying and speaking in Spanish, at about 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.

“It was terrified screaming, she was screaming in Spanish over and over again. What I got is that she was crying over something. She was crying hysterically,” said Brad Haltom, a volunteer at the Bridge Community Church and Tolleson Food Bank.

Dennis Sims, who is also a volunteer at the food bank, said “I thought it was a domestic dispute, but I never saw any violence. People were devastated by what happened.”
