Children Gone Bad

11-Year-Old Girl Beats 2-Month Old to Death

A mother, 39, was babysitting her friend’s 2-month-old baby, Zuri Whitehead, on Thursday night in Wickliffe, which is north of Cleveland. Speaking at a news conference Monday, Police Chief Randy Ice said the girl had hoped to provide a break for the baby’s mother, Trina Whitehead, who has three other children.

The 39-year-old woman said she fell asleep at 3 a.m. on a couch with the baby on one side, and her daughter, who is 11, on the other side, Ice said.

About an hour later, the woman said she was woken up by her daughter, who was holding the infant. The baby appeared to be badly beaten with her head swollen.

The woman immediately called 911 and the baby was airlifted to a children’s trauma center in Cleveland, where she died on Friday.

Police officials said they believe the 11-year-old took the infant into another room and beat her.

An autopsy later revealed that the baby suffered massive blunt-force trauma to the head an torso, Sgt. Len Nosse told the Los Angeles Times.

“It was really horrific,” Noose said. “We’ve never seen anything like this.”

The police chief said he was considering counseling for those who responded to the scene.

The 11-year-old girl, whose name is not being reported due to her age, showed no remorse, Ice said.

“I’m not sure she appreciated the gravity of what she did,” he said.

She cannot be tried as an adult in Ohio, where a child must be at least 14 to be charged as an adult, the AP reported. The girl, though, could be sentenced to a state Department of Youth Services facility until age 21.

UPDATE: 15-Year Old Shoots Brother Dead, 11-Year-Old Sister “assisted”

Rusty knew there had to be something going on in that house…..

A 15-year-old girl who fatally shot her 16-year-old brother suffered years of abuse, including being locked in a room for weeks at a time with only a blanket and a bucket to use the bathroom, according to police reports and interviews.

The shooting at a small white house off a dirt road in rural north Florida happened Monday while the children’s parents were away for work. The father, a truck driver, and his wife, who often goes with him, left the 16-year-old boy to watch over the 15-year-old, her 11-year-old sister and their 3-year-old sister, police said. The parents left Sunday and were due back Tuesday.

Sometime Monday, the 15-year-old girl was locked in her room by her brother, police said. After the boy fell asleep, she talked her 11-year-old sister into unlocking her door.

The older girl knew her parents kept a pistol in their room, but they had locked their door. So the girl went outside and used a knife to remove an air conditioner from her parents’ bedroom window. She climbed in while her 11-year-old sister kept watch and grabbed the gun out of a pink bag and loaded it, police said.

The girl went back inside the house, telling her young sisters to get in the closet, she told police. She turned her head and fired at her sleeping brother in the living room, and he screamed “Help! Help!”

She buried her head in a pillow for a while and upon returning to the living room, the girl found her 3-year-old sister trying to wake her dead brother, according to the police report.

She fled with her 11-year-old sister, leaving the 3-year-old behind, police said.

The girls’ mother told police that they often locked the 15-year-old girl up when she misbehaved. The longest they kept her locked in her room was 20 consecutive days, the father told police.

In the girl’s room, police found only a blanket and a bucket filled with urine in the closet.

“It was learned that (the 15-year-old girl) has made past attempts at ending her life but neither law enforcement nor (emergency management services) was notified,” police wrote in their report.

Police documents released Wednesday said the girl’s uncle was convicted of molesting her in 2010. They also say the children’s mother discovered the siblings having sex in 2011. Authorities and child welfare officials investigated, but no one was charged.

Why police say they’re not sure of a motive is sheer stupidity.

Misty “Ariel” Renee Kornegay and her 11-year-old sister Nicole were arrested Monday night and are charged in the death of their 16-year-old brother.

Their parents, Keith and Misty, were also arrested on child neglect charges.

The Sheriff’s Office said 15-year-old Misty “Ariel” Renee Kornegay admitted she shot her 16-year-old brother, then walked away from the home with her 11-year-old sister, Nicole, leaving their 3-year-old sister at home.

Deputies said the shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. at 1205 Sophie Drive in the north part of the county, not far from White Springs.

White Springs police saw the girls walking and stopped them. When officers learned of the homicide, they called the Sheriff’s Office to the scene. Deputies found the brother dead on the living room floor from a single gunshot.

Investigators said the parents were out of town and Ariel Kornegay (pictured left with Nicole, right) retrieved the handgun used in the shooting from the parents’ bedroom. They have not revealed a motive.

After the parents, Keith Kornegay, 37, and 33-year-old Misty Kornegay, returned to town, they were questioned by investigators and were arrested on child neglect charges, accused of failing to properly supervise the children.

Columbia County, which didn’t have a single murder last year, was rocked by the murder.

Sheriff’s office deputies were dispatched to the Kornegay’s White Springs home, whereupon they found the body of the girl’s 16-year-old brother, Damien Kornegay, sprawled out on the living room floor. He had been shot one time and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that earlier in the evening the 15-year-old sister of the deceased retrieved a handgun from their parents’ bedroom and used it to shoot her brother,” said Smith.

Nicole Kornegay’s role in the shooting remains unclear. Smith would only say that she “assisted her 15-year-old sister” in the commission of the crime.

10-Year-Old Boy Punches 90-Year-Old Woman to Death

The boy, from Damascus Township, was charged as an adult. Police say he punched Helen Novak of Tyler Hill numerous times in the throat on Saturday, placing a cane on her neck at first.

According to a press release by Wayne County District Attorney Janine Edwards, the boy went to visit his grandfather, Anthony Virbitsky, who lives at 349 Skylake Road in Tyler Hill. Virbitsky is the caretaker for Novak.

At about 3:20 on Saturday, Martha Virbitsky went to the state police barracks in Honesdale with her son and reported that her son told her that he had gone into Novak’s room at his grandfather’s home and Novak yelled at him, according to the DA’s press release.

Martha Virbitsky told police that her son told her that he got mad, lost his temper and grabbed a cane and put it on Novak’s throat at his grandfather’s home earlier in the day.

State trooper John Decker then met with the boy and Martha Virbitsky and agreed to sit down with them to discuss Novak’s death. Decker mirandized the boy and reviewed his rights with him and Martha Virbitsky.

The affidavit states that the boy told Decker that he pulled Novak down on the bed and held a cane on her throat and then punched her numerous times. The boy then went to his grandfather and told him that Novak was bleeding from her mouth.

Anthony Virbitsky went to check on Novak and said she was OK. Virbitsky then asked the boy if he had done something to Novak and the boy said “No,” according to the DA’s office.

Anthony Virbitsky then went back to Novak around 11 a.m., found her unresponsive and called 911.

Anthony Virbitsky also stated that after finding Novak unresponsive that he asked the boy again if he had done something to Novak and this time the boy told his grandfather that he had punched Novak and put a cane on her throat.

Bullied 14-Year Old Stabs Ex-Friend to Death in Front of Middle School

The 14-year-old suspect struck back after incessant mental and physical torment from his middle-school peers, including Crump, led to a botched May suicide try with a belt, neighbors said.

His parents’ desperate attempts to win their son a “safety transfer” from Intermediate School 117 failed — as did his dad’s last-ditch plea to the principal on the night before the stabbing.

When Crump began throwing unprovoked punches at Estevez, the latest in an unrelenting avalanche of abuse, the eighth-grader finally snapped Wednesday afternoon.

…Fellow student Raven Spencer, who was standing 3 feet away from the stabbing, said Estevez pulled a 12-inch blade as he stood on the sidewalk outside the Bronx school.

Crump was fatally gashed in the chest before Estevez was grabbed by school safety agents.

“The kid kept hitting me with his fist, so I kept stabbing him four or five times,” a Bronx prosecutor quoted Estevez as telling police.

…Estevez’s tormentors mocked him with homophobic taunts, hacked away his hair, pushed him down stairs and scrawled crude messages on his apartment door, said another neighbor.

“They would say his mama’s a crackhead,” said Erica Jones, 33. “They would say, ‘You’re stupid, you should just kill yourself.’ If he didn’t have that knife, he would have been dead.”

A building employee said the assailants urinated on the family’s apartment door at least a half-dozen times.

…“At one point, Timothy and Noel, they were best friends,” said family friend Milagros Arroyo.

The friendship soon crumbled as Estevez went from pal to pariah. Neighbors said the teen, who feared for his life, tried to hang himself in a closet last month.

…Arroyo said the boy’s mother told her that he worried the bullies were going to kill him.

“They would call the apartment, they would come to the apartment, write on the door. They would constantly harass him,” Arroyo recounted.

10-Year-Old Girl Helps 8-Year-Old Brother Rape a 10-Year Old

The child’s mother says she was waiting in the pickup line for her daughter after school when her 10-year-old daughter came running towards her crying and shaking.

The mother was mortified when the child told her what had happened.

“She came out with her knees and hands shaking and crying. I jumped out of the car and asked her what was wrong and she said ‘mama they touched me down there.’” said the little girl’s mother.

The 10-year-old told her mother that when she went to the restroom a sister and a brother duo attacked her.

“The little boy pulled his pants down, pulled her pants down.” said the mother.

She says a female classmate held her down while that little girl’s 8-year-old brother raped her.

While Mom Was Asleep, 6-Year Old Shoots 8-Year-Old Brother in the Head

According to the search warrant affidavit, the 6-year-old told both his mother and responding troopers that he had shot his brother at the home in the first block Broad Street in Southampton Township.

The mother told investigators that a loaded revolver and a loaded rifle were kept next to the bed in the master bedroom where she was sleeping, and that the boys had slept on a couch when they spent weekends at the home, the document states.

Police said in the documents that the home was unfit for children because of piles of trash and clutter, abandoned vehicles, open food containers, piles of dirt, and the loaded rifle that was easily accessible to anyone who entered the master bedroom, the document states.

The affidavit also states that the mother appeared to be lethargic as she spoke to investigators, but said she would be willing to consent to blood testing.

The 8-year-old victim was flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center and was said to be in very critical condition.

His brother was in the custody of Cumberland County Children and Youth Services.

Slaughter, LA Boy, 8, Shoots 87-Year-Old “current caregiver”

An 8-year-old boy intentionally shot and killed an 87-year-old woman at their home in Slaughter, La., authorities said Friday.

Marie Smothers was described only as the boy’s “current caregiver.” No other information was available on the relationship between the boy and Smothers, who police said was shot in the back of her head late Thursday afternoon as she watched television.

The boy, whose identity wasn’t released because he’s a juvenile, was released into the custody of his parents pending the investigation, the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. Slaughter is a town of about 1,000 people near Baton Rouge, the state capital.

“Although the juvenile initially told investigators that he accidentally shot the victim while playing with a firearm, the investigation has led investigators to believe that the 8-year-old intentionally shot Mrs. Smothers in the back of the head as she sat in her living room watching television,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.

Authorities say that Louisiana law prohibits them from charging the child with a crime because of his age.

The law states: “Those who have not reached the age of 10 years are exempt from criminal responsibility. However, nothing in this article shall affect the jurisdiction of juvenile courts as established by the constitution and statutes of this state.”

The investigation is ongoing.

Man Shoots Video of His Son Lighting a 7-Year-Old Boy on FIre

A borough man has been arrested on charges he doused his then-girlfriend’s 7-year-old son with flammable liquid. The man’s own 15-year-old son then set the younger boy’s shirt on fire, Saxonburg police said.

Edward B. Myers, 35, allegedly used his cell phone to film the attack on May 25 at his Carol Drive home as he watched the boy burn.

Myers, the 15-year-old and his 11-year-old son, that same day of suspected torture, repeatedly shot the victim with airsoft guns and pellet-type guns, according to court documents.

…Investigators are not sure what motivated the alleged sadistic attack, however, one of Myers’ sons reportedly claimed it was a “prank.”

Man Stabs Father, Cut Off OWN HANDS

The bloody scene played out Monday in the northern California city of Redding, in a neighborhood close to a municipal airport in that city.

According to police, what began as a verbal fight between family members at some point became physical. Based on interviews, the sheriff’s office alleged that the 27-year-old son stabbed his father multiple times with scissors. Then, the sheriff’s office said a press release, Jason Dunn mutilated himself by using a radial-arm saw to sever his hands.

Neighbors heard the altercation, as did an unnamed witness who contacted authorities, according to Gardner.

Gary Rinehart told CNN affiliate KRCR that he saw both men being wheeled from the scene into separate ambulances. The first, the son, had “a lot of blood at the end of his arms, like his hands weren’t there.” The second, the father, had “blood in the upper area.”
