Siblings Gone Bad

Teen Kills Brother, Wounds Another over Food

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the shooting at 6:19 p.m. local time in the city of Hudson, some 45 miles (72 km) north of Tampa, the office said in a statement.

The three brothers were squabbling over dinner, the statement said, when the 13-year-old grabbed a handgun and shot his two brothers before killing himself. The children were home alone at the time.

The older brother was taken to a hospital and his injuries were not considered life-threatening, the statement said. The names of the children were not released by authorities.

The Times said that the children’s mother was at work and a fourth son, who is 18-years-old, was not at the house.

Further details were not immediately available.

UPDATE: 15-Year Old Shoots Brother Dead, 11-Year-Old Sister “assisted”

Rusty knew there had to be something going on in that house…..

A 15-year-old girl who fatally shot her 16-year-old brother suffered years of abuse, including being locked in a room for weeks at a time with only a blanket and a bucket to use the bathroom, according to police reports and interviews.

The shooting at a small white house off a dirt road in rural north Florida happened Monday while the children’s parents were away for work. The father, a truck driver, and his wife, who often goes with him, left the 16-year-old boy to watch over the 15-year-old, her 11-year-old sister and their 3-year-old sister, police said. The parents left Sunday and were due back Tuesday.

Sometime Monday, the 15-year-old girl was locked in her room by her brother, police said. After the boy fell asleep, she talked her 11-year-old sister into unlocking her door.

The older girl knew her parents kept a pistol in their room, but they had locked their door. So the girl went outside and used a knife to remove an air conditioner from her parents’ bedroom window. She climbed in while her 11-year-old sister kept watch and grabbed the gun out of a pink bag and loaded it, police said.

The girl went back inside the house, telling her young sisters to get in the closet, she told police. She turned her head and fired at her sleeping brother in the living room, and he screamed “Help! Help!”

She buried her head in a pillow for a while and upon returning to the living room, the girl found her 3-year-old sister trying to wake her dead brother, according to the police report.

She fled with her 11-year-old sister, leaving the 3-year-old behind, police said.

The girls’ mother told police that they often locked the 15-year-old girl up when she misbehaved. The longest they kept her locked in her room was 20 consecutive days, the father told police.

In the girl’s room, police found only a blanket and a bucket filled with urine in the closet.

“It was learned that (the 15-year-old girl) has made past attempts at ending her life but neither law enforcement nor (emergency management services) was notified,” police wrote in their report.

Police documents released Wednesday said the girl’s uncle was convicted of molesting her in 2010. They also say the children’s mother discovered the siblings having sex in 2011. Authorities and child welfare officials investigated, but no one was charged.

Why police say they’re not sure of a motive is sheer stupidity.

Misty “Ariel” Renee Kornegay and her 11-year-old sister Nicole were arrested Monday night and are charged in the death of their 16-year-old brother.

Their parents, Keith and Misty, were also arrested on child neglect charges.

The Sheriff’s Office said 15-year-old Misty “Ariel” Renee Kornegay admitted she shot her 16-year-old brother, then walked away from the home with her 11-year-old sister, Nicole, leaving their 3-year-old sister at home.

Deputies said the shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. at 1205 Sophie Drive in the north part of the county, not far from White Springs.

White Springs police saw the girls walking and stopped them. When officers learned of the homicide, they called the Sheriff’s Office to the scene. Deputies found the brother dead on the living room floor from a single gunshot.

Investigators said the parents were out of town and Ariel Kornegay (pictured left with Nicole, right) retrieved the handgun used in the shooting from the parents’ bedroom. They have not revealed a motive.

After the parents, Keith Kornegay, 37, and 33-year-old Misty Kornegay, returned to town, they were questioned by investigators and were arrested on child neglect charges, accused of failing to properly supervise the children.

Columbia County, which didn’t have a single murder last year, was rocked by the murder.

Sheriff’s office deputies were dispatched to the Kornegay’s White Springs home, whereupon they found the body of the girl’s 16-year-old brother, Damien Kornegay, sprawled out on the living room floor. He had been shot one time and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that earlier in the evening the 15-year-old sister of the deceased retrieved a handgun from their parents’ bedroom and used it to shoot her brother,” said Smith.

Nicole Kornegay’s role in the shooting remains unclear. Smith would only say that she “assisted her 15-year-old sister” in the commission of the crime.

World Gone Bad: Small Mob Stones Pregnant Woman to Death while Police Watch

Farzana Parveen was attacked on Tuesday outside the High Court building in the eastern city of Lahore by more than two dozen brick-wielding attackers, including her brother and father, for marrying against the wishes of her family.

Parveen, who was three months pregnant, had gone to court to testify in defence of her husband Muhammad Iqbal — who was accused by her relatives of kidnapping her and forcing her into marriage.

Iqbal, 45, told AFP the couple had survived a previous attack during the first hearing of the case on May 12 and demanded justice for his wife.

He told the BBC that police officers at the court were “watching silently” while his wife was beaten to death on Tuesday, despite desperate attempts to get them to act.

“One of my relatives took off his clothes to catch their attention,” he told the broadcaster.

“A naked man was crying for help in front of the High Court but nobody intervened.”

Last year 869 women died in so-called “honour killings” according to the independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.

Conviction rates are very low due to Pakistan’s blood-money laws which allow kin to forgive perpetrators, usually family members in such cases.

Man Shoots Younger Brother, Younger Brother Spits out Bullet During Police Interview

Police say a 23-year-old man living in a mobile home, had a severe showdown with his older brother. The visiting brother came to check on his sibling, after alleged prior arguments and word that the younger brother shot off a gun inside the home.

Police say the older brother claims his younger brother flashed a gun. The older brother then shot the younger brother in the face and neck. He told police it was in self-defense.

The older brother called 911 and waited for emergency crews. His wounded brother rushed to the hospital. The man spit up a bullet that passed through his nose.

10-Year-Old Girl Helps 8-Year-Old Brother Rape a 10-Year Old

The child’s mother says she was waiting in the pickup line for her daughter after school when her 10-year-old daughter came running towards her crying and shaking.

The mother was mortified when the child told her what had happened.

“She came out with her knees and hands shaking and crying. I jumped out of the car and asked her what was wrong and she said ‘mama they touched me down there.’” said the little girl’s mother.

The 10-year-old told her mother that when she went to the restroom a sister and a brother duo attacked her.

“The little boy pulled his pants down, pulled her pants down.” said the mother.

She says a female classmate held her down while that little girl’s 8-year-old brother raped her.

“Honestly, I just felt like killing”: Man Stabs 12-Year-Old Half-Brother to Death

Andrew Ward [27] called 911 from a convenience store near the north Phoenix home where Austin Tapia suffered multiple stab wounds late Wednesday, police Sgt. Steve Martos said.

Ward told the dispatcher he had stabbed someone, and officers found Ward with blood on his hands and clothing and a knife in a pants pocket, Martos said.

Martos said detectives asked Ward why he killed the boy, and Ward said, “Honestly, I just felt like killing.”

Other family members had gone to dinner, so Ward and the boy were the only ones home. The mother and two teenage sisters returned home to find police at what had become a crime scene.

Woman Shoots 6, Kills 4, Including Her Brother, over Pending Eviction

Cherie Rhoades, 44, has been arrested but not charged in the attack and is expected to be arraigned in court in Alturas on Tuesday, said a spokeswoman for the Modoc County District Attorney’s Office.

Rhoades is accused of using two semi-automatic handguns to fatally shoot her 50-year-old brother, 19-year-old niece and 30-year-old nephew in Alturas, about 30 miles south of the Oregon border, said Alturas City Clerk Cary Baker, an acting spokeswoman for the small town of about 2,800 residents.

… Two other people at the hearing were critically wounded and remained hospitalized, officials said. One of those people was alert and talking on Friday, they said.

Rhoades had once been a tribal leader with the Cedarville Rancheria tribe, Baker said.

She lived on tribal property in Cedarville, about 20 miles east of Alturas, and was being evicted from that house along with her son, Baker said. The tribal office in Alturas is where day-to-day business is conducted for the Cedarville Rancheria.

After apparently running out bullets, Rhoades picked up a large kitchen knife and chased one person she had already shot, police said.

14-Year Old Stabs 11-Year-Old Half-Sister to Death

The 14-year-old initially told police Tuesday morning that a Hispanic man had broken into their home, had attacked her sister then ran off.

But on Tuesday afternoon, investigators confronted the 14-year-old, telling her that there were strands of hair in her half-sister’s hands, and DNA testing would reveal more information about her attacker. The 14-year-old allegedly confessed to the crime, saying her half-sister had hit her the night before, had made her mad and did not appreciate all that she was doing for her, prosecutors said.

The 14-year-old said she woke up at 7:50 a.m., waited 10 to 15 minutes, went downstairs and got a knife, then went to stab her sister, prosecutors alleged.

They struggled, and when she realized the younger girl was dead, she stopped the attack, prosecutors said.

The immediate cause of the death of the victim was “multiple sharp force injuries,” which were “consistent with a fillet knife,” Lake County Coroner Thomas Rudd said.

Rudd said there were about 30 stab wounds to the girl’s neck, chest and arm. In addition to those wounds there were three slashing or slicing wounds across the victim’s face.
