Religious Men Gone Bad

“I hacked them to death with a machete”: Man Kills 19-Year Old over “witchcraft”

A 21-year-old Stillwater man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of an area college student who, according to police, was nearly decapitated.

Isaiah Zoar Marin, 21,  is accused of using a “long knife or sword” to kill 19-year-old Jacob Andrew Crockett at an apartment in the 400 block of S. Oakdale in Stillwater.

Police say the two men were “acquaintances” and Crockett was attending class at Northern Oklahoma College, but was planning to transfer to OSU.

On Wednesday afternoon, officers say they received a 911 call from Marin, saying he had just killed someone.

According to an arrest affidavit, Marin told police, “I murdered someone.”

According to the affidavit, he began “rambling about sacrificing and magic.”

Officers found him walking along State Highway 51 in western Stillwater, covered in blood and carrying a knife.

Court records show that after police approached Marin, he said, “I hacked them to death with a machete.”

Marin’s brother, Samuel Marin, told police he and Isaiah were playing a card game and the victim was in the room with them.

The report says Samuel stated Isaiah had been watching YouTube videos related to his Christian beliefs.

During the card game, the affidavit claims Isaiah picked up a large black sword and began swinging it.

Samuel stated he heard a noise “described as the sound of someone getting stabbed. He stated he looked up and saw Jacob stand up and blood gushing from his chest.”

Samuel told police that Isaiah was still holding the knife.

At that point, the witness says he ran from the apartment.

He says Isaiah followed him, trying to calm him down and “would explain why he killed Jacob from letters he would write while he was in prison.”

Samuel told police Crockett and Isaiah had disagreements in the past.

He said Jacob Crockett and his brother, Jesse, “were practicing witchcraft and Isaiah had strong Christian beliefs.”

Abortion Clinic Arsonist Wanted for Child Molestation

“Save the babies!” Yeah, right.

The tips started coming in shortly after authorities released surveillance photos of a man suspected of groping an 11-year-old girl at a Fred Meyer store in Snohomish.

The callers were certain the thin man in glasses was Curtis Anton Beseda, who once served 12 years in federal prison for setting fire to abortion clinics in Western Washington in the 1980s.

At least three people said they were “100 percent sure” it was Beseda, including an employee at an Everett restaurant he was said to frequent; a person who went to college with him; and a former high-school classmate, according to Snohomish County prosecutors.

Trouble is, no one knows where he is.

… Snohomish County prosecutors allege that Beseda, 58, was at the Fred Meyer store at 2801 Bickford Ave. on Jan. 27 when he approached an 11-year-old girl who was waiting for her father outside a restroom.

Beseda leaned so close to the girl she could feel his breath on her ear, then he pressed his pelvis into her backside and fondled her buttocks and thigh, prosecutors wrote in the affidavit of probable cause that lays out the state’s case.

He left when a Starbucks employee approached them, court documents say.

The girl told police that the man offered to buy the drink she was holding and “sneak” it to her outside, court documents say. She also said she was afraid the man was trying to lure her from the store and was “trying to do something bad,” prosecutors say.

Video surveillance corroborated the girl’s story, police and prosecutors said.

… The person who knew Beseda from college described him as having “unique mannerisms” and a condition that apparently compels him to hover at doorways, entering and exiting several times, before finally going in or out, court documents indicate.

Prosecutors say the video obtained from the Fred Meyer store shows the suspect going partially in and out of the sliding door before exiting.

…At his trial in U.S. District Court, Beseda admitted to setting the fires, saying he did it for the “glory of God.” He also said he made sure there were no people inside because he didn’t want to hurt anyone.

He said he was unhappy he caused people emotional distress but was glad that he might have helped prevent some abortions.

He served 12 years of a 20-year sentence and was released in 1996, according to court documents.

While imprisoned, Beseda became a martyr for the anti-abortion movement and was honored at a national anti-abortion banquet in 1995, according to The Associated Press.

In 1997 he was taken back into custody on a parole violation and rereleased in 2003, court documents show.

Since then, he has accrued three misdemeanor convictions for criminal trespassing and fourth-degree assault, according to court documents.

“[R]eligious man” Suspected in Triple Murder-Suicide

On Wednesday, the family of four was found dead in their South Carolina home in an apparent murder-suicide at the suspected hands of the devout Jehovah Witness husband and father.

The bodies of Sheddrick Byron Miller, 38, and his wife Kia Von Miller, 28, were discovered with their two young children, age 3 and 1, in the family’s Riverwalk home after Sheddrick Miller’s mother hadn’t heard from them for a few days, the Charlotte Observer reported.

…The Richland County Coroner confirmed their identities Thursday and described them as each suffering a gunshot wound to the head.

The weapon believed to have been used was found closest to Sheddrick Miller, indicating that he was the last to fire it.

On Miller’s Facebook page, he depicts what would be seen to be a happy life full of love for his family, which he commonly refers to as royalty.

…[Tammy] Doctor called him “a religious man” who loved his kids. She said his wife was a stay-at-home mom.

…South Carolina ranks first in the nation in number of women murdered by men, according to a study released by the Violence Policy Center in October — correlating to Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Nationwide “nine women each week are shot to death by their husband or intimate partner,” Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, said in their report.

“That’s nearly 500 domestic gun violence deaths each year — more than twice the number of servicewomen killed in military conflicts since the Korean War. We urgently need better policies that protect women and their families from this senseless violence. No American, adult or child, should live in a perpetual state of fear. It’s inhumane.”
