Woman Accused Of Dismembering Son Is Mentally Competent To Stand Trial. HuffPo Crime, 9/5/2014.

Donna Scrivo of St. Clair Shores appeared in court Friday, where attorneys said psychological evaluations deemed her mentally competent. She waived a District Court hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to send the case to trial.

Defense lawyer Elias Muawad tells the Detroit Free Press “we want to move on to prepare for trial.”

The next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 22 in Macomb County Circuit Court.

The 60-year-old is charged with first-degree murder and dismemberment. Five bags containing 32-year-old Ramsay Scrivo’s body parts were dumped in February in St. Clair County, about 50 miles northeast of Detroit. An electric saw was found in one of the bags.

“What’s your problem?”: Father of 2 Gunned down by Road Rage Driver

According to [attorney William] Moore, [Derek] Flemming and his wife [Amy] were eastbound on Grand River Avenue in their SUV about 3:35 p.m. Tuesday when they noticed a 2012 Dodge pickup “screaming down a side street” so fast that Amy Flemming believed it was going to hit their SUV, but instead cut them off as it turned onto Grand River.

Moore said Derek Flemming attempted to move to the right lane to allow the pickup to pass, but the other driver nearly struck their SUV.

Bezotte said the pickup driver was tailgating the Flemmings’ Escape until they reached National Street where the pickup driver passed the SUV.

Moore said Amy Flemming told police that the pickup driver cut to the left, getting in front of their SUV and he “slammed on the brakes.”

Witnesses indicated that the younger man appeared to be “upset” or “angry” as he approached the pickup, Bezotte said, but it is believed there was no physical contact between the men before the shooting.

“His wife was forced to witness this act from the front seat of her car,” Moore said.

Livingston County Prosecutor William Vailliencourt expressed his condolences to the Flemming family during a 4 p.m. press conference today. He also said this case is not about a citizen’s right to possess guns.

“I fully support the right of individuals to keep and possess firearms, but it’s when they misuse those weapons that it becomes a problem,” he said.

Vailliencourt said he’s confident the suspect, Martin Edward Zale, wasn’t reacting in self-defense when he shot Derek Flemming once in the face as the 43-year-old father of two stood outside Zale’s pickup truck on Tuesday following a road rage incident. He said a jury will decide if there was a reasonable threat of imminent harm from Martin Edward Zale’s viewpoint.

Vailliencourt said you can’t shoot someone because you’re not happy with them.

Because the Internets Told Me to: Man Drives Cross-Country with Girlfriend’s Corpse

And his wheelchair-bound mother in the back:

WJBK Fox 2’s Roop Raj reports a 62-year-old man drove from Michigan to Arizona to pick up a 31-year-old woman, with whom he was in a relationship. The man picked the woman up on May 31 from the mental health facility where she resided in Glendale, Ariz., a suburb of Phoenix.

FOX 2’s Maurielle Lue reports the man has been identified as Ray Tomlinson.

Police believe the woman ingested a number of oxycodone pills after stopping at a gas station in Flagstaff, Ariz. June 1. Warren Police Commissioner Jere Green says she returned to the van and died almost immediately, but it wasn’t until later that the man touched her and realized she was dead.

The man told police he made two additional stops between New Mexico and Oklahoma, where he attempted to ask the woman if she needed to exit the vehicle. After she failed to respond, he determined she was deceased.

Commissioner Green says the man used his cell phone to search what he should do with the woman’s body.

Apparently, what he read on the Internet convinced him to continue driving to Michigan. Warren Det. Sgt. Stephen Mills said the man determined via the Internet that he had 48 hours to present the body to a medical examiner.

The woman’s body remained in the passenger seat for the remainder of the drive. Police say he propped her body up and placed sunglasses on her face and a stuffed animal in her lap.

The man’s 92-year-old mother was also riding in the back of the van in her wheelchair. During the 26-hour drive she was not able to use a restroom. The air-conditioning in the van stopped working soon after they began driving.

Police officer who made mentally ill black man ‘dance like a chimp’ removed from duty. The Raw Story, 11/24/2013.

The video, which the unnamed officer posted on various social media sites, allegedly shows the officer demanding a mentally challenged black man to “dance like a chimp.”

It is unclear whether the unnamed officer is solely responsible for the video, or if other officers were involved. The Grosse Pointe Park Police Department did inform its officers that they are prohibited from posting videos from personal cell phones on social media while on duty.

City officials declined to comment on the investigation until it concluded, but a public relations expert hired by the police department apologized on its behalf late last week.

Texas cop arrested for handcuffing and raping 19-year-old at traffic stop. The Raw Story, 11/24/2013.

According to an arrested warrant obtained by the San Antonio Express-News, Officer Jackie Len Neal pulled over the [19-year-old woman], telling her that her car was reported stolen.

Even though the woman produced a sales slip for the vehicle, Neal insisted on patting her down. The woman told him she felt uncomfortable with the pat down and asked for a female officer, but he ignored her, the warrant said. The woman was allegedly groped, placed in handcuffs and then taken to the back of his patrol car.

Neal was accused of raping the woman and instructing her to keep it a secret.

At the time of the alleged assault, video cameras mounted in Neal’s cruiser were not functioning because a hard drive was missing. However, a GPS tracking system did corroborate that the police cruiser was parked for 18 minutes on Betty Street as the woman had claimed.

At a press conference on Saturday, Police Chief William McManus said that Neal would have known the video recording system was not functioning in his cruiser.

…McManus confirmed that Neal had been suspended in September for dating an 18-year-old, who had joined the Police Explorer program in preparation for a law enforcement career. He had also been accused of sexual assault while on duty several years earlier, but the woman refused to cooperate with a police investigation and the charges were dropped.

Police eventually arrested Officer Jackie Len Neal, who is now accused of sexual assault. Police say Neal was found looking for the woman, having identified himself as “Jack.”

“urban terrorism”: 3 Shot Dead at Barbershop

According to a spokeswoman for the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office, the three men killed in the shooting are: Bryan Williams, 29; Joezell Williams, 61; and Kevin Perryman, 40. All died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the office.

The shooting happened at Al’s Place Barber Shop at 5220 E. Seven Mile Road and might have been the result of an ongoing feud between the shooter and people at the gambling party, Craig said. / He called the shooting “urban terrorism.”

…The initial investigation, Craig said, revealed that 20 to 30 people were packed into a small room at the rear of the barbershop and were gambling.

He said a man pulled up in a vehicle and started firing at a truck with a high-powered rifle. At some point, the rear door of the shop opened and the shooter began firing inside of the business. Craig said nine people were shot inside of the location.

He said at least one person inside of the barbershop returned fire.

Investigators were searching for men driving two Chevrolet Impalas – one white, one black – involved in the shoot-out along Seven Mile Road between Mound and Ryan at about 6 p.m. Investigators said a shoot-out between the cars’ occupants in an alley behind the building spilled over into the barbershop.
