Man Kills 8—6 Are Children

Investigators said [David] Conley [48] admitted to breaking into the home through an open window after the woman he formerly lived with, Valerie Jackson, 40, changed the locks on the doors.

Conley told investigators that he restrained eight people inside with metal handcuffs, including Jackson and shot them in the back of the head.

The identities of the victims were released in a press conference Sunday afternoon. They include, Valerie Jackson, her husband Dwayne Jackson, 50, Dwayne Jackson, Jr., 10, Nathaniel Jackson, 13, Honesty Jackson, 11, Caleb Jackson, 9, Trinity Jackson, 7, and Jonah Jackson, 6.

HCSO Spokesman Thomas Gilliland said when deputies arrived, no one responded at the front door. They then received more information that indicated a man in the home was wanted on a warrant.

The sergeant on the scene called for a High Risk Operations Unit, similar to SWAT, to help make entry and investigate. While the call was being placed, deputies surrounded the home, and they spotted the body of a juvenile through a window.

At that point, the sergeant and three deputies forced their way in, and Conley began shooting, the sheriff’s office says. Deputies pulled back and waited for the HROU and a negotiator to arrive.

Authorities established contact with the Conley, and after more than an hour he came outside and surrendered without further incident.

The bodies of eight people were found in the home, Gilliland said.

11-Year-Old Girl Beats 2-Month Old to Death

A mother, 39, was babysitting her friend’s 2-month-old baby, Zuri Whitehead, on Thursday night in Wickliffe, which is north of Cleveland. Speaking at a news conference Monday, Police Chief Randy Ice said the girl had hoped to provide a break for the baby’s mother, Trina Whitehead, who has three other children.

The 39-year-old woman said she fell asleep at 3 a.m. on a couch with the baby on one side, and her daughter, who is 11, on the other side, Ice said.

About an hour later, the woman said she was woken up by her daughter, who was holding the infant. The baby appeared to be badly beaten with her head swollen.

The woman immediately called 911 and the baby was airlifted to a children’s trauma center in Cleveland, where she died on Friday.

Police officials said they believe the 11-year-old took the infant into another room and beat her.

An autopsy later revealed that the baby suffered massive blunt-force trauma to the head an torso, Sgt. Len Nosse told the Los Angeles Times.

“It was really horrific,” Noose said. “We’ve never seen anything like this.”

The police chief said he was considering counseling for those who responded to the scene.

The 11-year-old girl, whose name is not being reported due to her age, showed no remorse, Ice said.

“I’m not sure she appreciated the gravity of what she did,” he said.

She cannot be tried as an adult in Ohio, where a child must be at least 14 to be charged as an adult, the AP reported. The girl, though, could be sentenced to a state Department of Youth Services facility until age 21.

12-Year Old Survives Family Murder-Suicide, Calls 911

In the quiet of a pre-dawn Saturday on a dead-end street, a father came home and shot his family in their heads, leaving women in three generations dead and a wounded 12-year-old girl calling 911, police said.

“What I did, I cannot come back from,” Jonathon Walker told his brother by phone soon afterward, police said. And Walker did not come back – police said he killed himself in his car on a desolate street a few miles away, ending a burst of violence that stunned relatives who said the family hadn’t shown signs of trouble.

The 34-year-old security guard had killed his 7-year-old daughter, Kayla Walker; his 31-year-old girlfriend, Shantai Hale; and Hale’s mother, Viola Warren, 62. His and Hale’s older daughter, whom a relative identified as Christina Walker, was hospitalized in stable condition, police said.

The bloody scene unfolded suddenly and quickly – Walker showed up to the home at 5:38 a.m., and his 12-year-old daughter called 911 a few minutes afterward to report that her father had shot the family, Boyce said. When officers arrived three minutes later, Walker was gone.

They searched for his SUV and found it within hours, with Walker’s body and a .45-caliber gun inside, Boyce said.

The victims were found on the home’s floor, he said.

“He just drove off”: Man Throws 5-Year-Old Daughter off Bridge, Kills Her

A Florida man driving toward a bridge over Tampa Bay pulled his car over early Thursday, took his 5-year-old daughter from the back seat, pressed her head to his chest, and tossed her over the rail, according to police in St. Petersburg.

John Nicholas Jonchuck, 25, faces first-degree murder charges. His daughter, Phoebe, fell about 60 feet over the Sunshine Skyway bridge into the bay just after midnight, St. Petersburg police Chief Anthony Holloway said at a news conference.

An officer heading home after his shift saw Jonchuck’s vehicle speed past at nearly 100 mph, Holloway said. The officer prepared to pull the PT Cruiser over, but by the time he caught up with it, Jonchuck had pulled over on the side of the road.

Holloway said Jonchuck got out and started toward the officer, who pulled his weapon. But Jonchuck went around to the passenger side of the car and got the child out.

The officer “thought he heard the child scream, but he wasn’t sure,” Holloway said. The officer then saw the man throw the child over, into the strong bay current.

Her body was recovered about a mile from the bridge and hour and a half later. Rescue crews tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at 2:44 a.m.

Back on the road, officers said Jonchuck got back in the car and headed south, crossing the bridge on Interstate 275.

“The suspect drove off,” Holloway said. “He just drove off.”

Two other officers who were near the bridge started following Jonchuck into neighboring Manatee County.

Holloway said Jonchuck turned his blinker on and stopped before starting again and driving toward deputies. He then headed the wrong way on the interstate, going back toward the bridge. Deputies put out traffic spikes to stop the vehicle.

Jonchuck was arrested and brought back to St. Petersburg for questioning. He’s being held without bond on the murder charge.

Authorities said Jonchuck filed a domestic violence report against the child’s mother last month, but it wasn’t granted. He had custody of the child, and they lived with his father in Tampa. Authorities didn’t release information about the girl’s mother.

19-Year Old Kills, Dumps 5-Year-Old Cousin, Reports Him Kidnapped

Tiffany VanAlstyne’s bogus 911 call on Thursday afternoon set off a search for Kenneth White that lasted into the night, authorities said. A search dog picked up a scent at about 9 p.m., and Kenneth’s body was found in a culvert, covered with snow VanAlstyne used in a bid to hide the crime, Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said.

VanAlstyne’s parents have been the legal guardians of Kenneth, his twin sister Cheyenne, and 4-year-old sister Christine since September, and the children had lived in the home for more than a year. Apple said he did not believe the other children were in the room where White was attacked.

VanAlstyne strangled the boy and tossed his body “like a piece of trash” over a guard rail along a rural two-lane road about 40 yards from the trailer home in the town of Berne sometime before making the 911 call just after 1 p.m. Thursday, Apple said. The child had also suffered a blow to the head.

The 911 call touched off a search that included an Amber Alert describing the kidnappers as two men, clad all in black and driving a black pickup truck.

But Apple said the interrogation of VanAlstyne and others began to yield contradictions that threw the abduction story into doubt.

“Things did not start to add up,” he said, and investigators got a warrant to return to the home, about 23 miles southeast of Albany.

The children’s mother lives in Amsterdam, west of Albany, and the father in Massachusetts. Authorities would not say why the children had been place in the care of their aunt, Brenda VanAlstyne.

Man Shoots 13-Year Old 9 Times for Laughing at Him

According to the Gary Post-Tribune, police have not released the shooter’s name, but said that he shot Kobe Jones, 13, nine times. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:31 p.m. on Friday by the Lake County Coroner’s office.

Gary Police Lt. Thomas Pawlak told the Post-Tribune that the gunman’s home was broken into and robbed some time on Friday afternoon. The man arrived home around 5:00 p.m. and discovered the robbery and flew into a rage.

As he was having a noisy tantrum in his back yard, a crowd of neighborhood residents gathered. Jones made the mistake of laughing at his neighbor’s histrionics, which drove the man to even greater heights of rage.

He produced a gun and shot Jones nine times, killing him. The shooter and his girlfriend fled the scene in a car, but returned at around 7:00 p.m. and surrendered to police.

A 13-year-old boy was shot and killed Friday evening in Gary by a neighbor who was upset about his house being burglarized and became enraged when the teen laughed at him, according to police.

Kobe Jones died of multiple gunshot wounds near his home in the 1000 block of Polk Street and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:31 p.m., the Lake County coroner’s office reported.

A suspect is in custody and the residents on the block who know the connection aren’t talking.

“We know there were a lot of people out there when he was ranting and raving, but no one wants to tell us what they saw,” a frustrated investigations Cmdr. Del Stout said Saturday.

Without eyewitnesses who can connect the suspect to the shooting death of Jones, the boy’s 30-year-old neighbor may go free.

“He started then, up and down the street, knocking on doors and wanting to know who broke into his home,” Nielsen said. This continued on and off until shortly before 5 p.m., when Jones, who was sitting on his own front porch, was shot several times.

The suspect and his girlfriend were seen leaving the area immediately. They returned about two hours later, after police had completed processing the scene in front of Jones’ house.

They were both arrested then, Nielsen said. The shooting suspect told police he had just been released from Kane County Jail the day he discovered the burglary. His girlfriend had been at work during the day, police said.

Man Beats 3-Year-Old Girl to Death over Soiled Pants

Cops found the dying girl after a 911 caller reported bloodcurdling screams echoing from the apartment in a city homeless shelter at 38 Cooper St. shortly before 4 p.m., cops said.

…Jeida Torres, 3, died at Wyckoff Hospital after her mother’s enraged boyfriend “punched and choked” the tiny child — who suffered injuries to her head and body, sources said.

“She either pooped her pants or peed on herself, and he got agitated,” a source said.

Suspect Kelsey Smith, who fled the scene and left the mortally injured child behind with her battered big brother, has a rap sheet with with 14 prior arrests dating to 2008, cop sources said.

Jeida’s 5-year-old brother, Andrew, was also beaten black and blue by Smith, 20, although a police source said the boy’s injuries were possibly inflicted before Saturday.

Neighbor Marilyn Cruz said the afternoon killing capped two solid weeks of fighting and violence inside the apartment.

Smith was busted just across the Queens border after the NYPD received a tip on the fugitive’s whereabouts. Cop sources said he tried to slash himself in a failed suicide try.

[Mother of children Kimberly] Torres — who arrived at the location 30 minutes after the 911 call — told police she left Smith alone with her two kids when she went to work Saturday.

The dead girl’s grandfather broke down completely after he learned of little Jeida’s fate, and his daughter sobbed relentlessly before police brought her to the hospital.

Battered Andrew Torres, who was placed in a police car for the trip to Wyckoff, was in stable condition with visible bruises to his face and upper body.

“Papa! Papa!” the terrified boy shouted at his grandfather, who had just come downstairs from the apartment where his granddaughter’s body was found.

The little girl was already motionless when EMTs rushed her outside in a desperate if vain effort to save her life.

“I saw the paramedics run out with little girl wrapped in a blanket,” said Best. “Her hands were just hanging out … just limp.”

Man Shoots, Stabs 3-Year Old to Death, Dies in Police Shootout

Frederick Roy Miller, 38, allegedly shot and wounded the girl’s maternal grandfather and great-grandmother on Saturday while attempting to kidnap his daughter.

Police responded and spotted Miller grabbing his daughter and getting into his Nissan Altima, according to police. Officers chased Miller in his car, and he stopped several times to exchange gunfire with police.

Five Prince George’s county police officers and one Maryland state trooper fired shots at Miller, who was killed at the scene.

When police approached the vehicle, they discovered the 3-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound and a stab wound.

The office of the Chief Medical Examiner said it appeared Miller stabbed and shot his daughter. She was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Man Stabs Aunt, Kills Her 6-Month Old, Shot Dead by Police

A six-month old baby died and his mother was in critical condition after a family member stabbed them both on Thursday in a Sacramento suburb, police said.

The 20-year-old alleged assailant, the woman’s nephew, was shot by police and also died, Folsom police spokesman Andrew Bates said.

“The first officer to arrive contacted a male in his early 20′s who was covered in blood and advanced on the officer,” Bates said. “The suspect had just stabbed his aunt and her 6-month old son.”

The officer shot the man once, Bates said. The man, his aunt and the baby were all sent to hospitals, and the baby and the assailant were later pronounced dead, he said.

Their identities were not released on Thursday.

Bates said that investigator were looking into whether the assailant intended to commit “suicide by cop,” Bates said, based on information from witnesses.

“I don’t want to die, please don’t kill me”: Grandmother Stabs 7-Year-Old Grandson to Death

Mason Rhinehart and his brother were playing video games in their Killearn Lakes Plantation home Tuesday morning when their grandmother, Martha White, interrupted to say she had a surprise for them.

White, 63, who had been babysitting the boys, then took 6-year-old Mason into the bathroom and locked the door behind her, a probable cause affidavit said. Mason’s brother, age 8, heard him start to cry from behind the door and say, “I don’t want to die, please don’t kill me.”

The boy said he tried to get in the bathroom, but could not. He then called his father and hid, court documents said.

Within five minutes, first responders were on the scene and found Mason lying on the bathroom floor with multiple stab wounds to the chest, said Lt. James McQuaig, LCSO spokesman. Leon County Emergency Medical Services rushed him to the hospital, but Mason did not survive.

…Mason’s brother said he saw White leave the home with a bottle of wine but not before telling him she “had a surprise for him too,” court documents said. McQuaig said Mason’s brother was not injured in the incident.

Deputies identified White as a suspect when they found her covered in blood at the dead end of Valley Creek Drive, about a half-mile away from the boys’ parents’ home in the 7700 block of Bass Ridge Trail. White’s clothing was covered with blood, court documents said. She also had a bottle of wine and a Xanax.

…It is still too early in the investigation to identify a motive for the stabbing, McQuaig said. However, White told deputies she was “fed up.”
