“urban terrorism”: 3 Shot Dead at Barbershop

According to a spokeswoman for the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office, the three men killed in the shooting are: Bryan Williams, 29; Joezell Williams, 61; and Kevin Perryman, 40. All died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the office.

The shooting happened at Al’s Place Barber Shop at 5220 E. Seven Mile Road and might have been the result of an ongoing feud between the shooter and people at the gambling party, Craig said. / He called the shooting “urban terrorism.”

…The initial investigation, Craig said, revealed that 20 to 30 people were packed into a small room at the rear of the barbershop and were gambling.

He said a man pulled up in a vehicle and started firing at a truck with a high-powered rifle. At some point, the rear door of the shop opened and the shooter began firing inside of the business. Craig said nine people were shot inside of the location.

He said at least one person inside of the barbershop returned fire.

Investigators were searching for men driving two Chevrolet Impalas – one white, one black – involved in the shoot-out along Seven Mile Road between Mound and Ryan at about 6 p.m. Investigators said a shoot-out between the cars’ occupants in an alley behind the building spilled over into the barbershop.

Married Man Kills Ex-Girlfriend at Medical Office

Authorities did not release the identities of the dead, pending autopsies, but police had been searching for 35-year-old medical assistant Sharita Williams and the fired maintenance worker, who relatives said was her ex-boyfriend. Williams’ mother, Antha Williams-Hill, told The Associated Press that one of her daughter’s co-workers told her that the man threatened her daughter inside.

“He said, ‘You think I’m playing with you?'” Williams-Hill said. “He told the other girl, ‘I think you better get out of here.’ The girl left and said she then heard two shots.” Last week, Sharita Williams was granted a personal protection order against the man, according to Wayne County Court records.

She said her daughter had been dating the married maintenance man for more than a year, but their relationship was rocky and Sharita eventually began seeing someone else and even moved out of the city and into a Detroit suburb to get away. However, he refused to leave her alone, Williams-Hill said.

5-Year Old and 1-Year Old Witness Triple Murder

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots Wednesday night at or near a house on Detroit’s west side. The next morning, a neighbor made the gruesome discovery inside the house – three people had been shot to death and two children, ages 5 and 1, were left abandoned, the station reports.

Police say they received calls reporting the gunshots Wednesday night, but were given the wrong address and therefore did not arrive at the correct address until new calls came in the next morning.

Police identified two of the victims as 25-year-old Lauren Trotty and 20-year-old India Coleman. The third victim, 25-year-old Curtis Clements, was identified by family members.

Police said all of the victims appeared to have suffered from gunshot wounds, but provided no additional details. Reports say a shotgun was used in the killings.

Kenyetta Hunt, a relative of Clements, told reporters Trotty’s 5-year-old child witnessed the shooting and identified the shooter as her mother’s ex-boyfriend. The toddler also reportedly said the 1-year-old, Coleman’s child, witnessed the shooting as well.

Detroit police say they have made one arrest in the case, although that person’s identity was not immediately released. An investigation is ongoing.
